Enlisted

  • Enlisted
  • Officer
  • Civilian

There are three ways to serve in the USSF; Enlisted members participate and support operations, Officers plan and manage personnel, while Civilians perform a mix of both support and management of Space Force operations. See screenshot for placement option.

You must be 17–42 years of age, a U.S. citizen and obtain a qualifying ASVAB score.
You can apply through an Air Force recruiter via telephone, your local recruitment office or our website. Once you’re confirmed to meet all qualifications, you’ll work with the recruiter to be processed into testing.
The ASVAB assesses your capabilities in four critical areas: arithmetic reasoning, mathematics knowledge, working knowledge and paragraph comprehension. These determine your strengths and your ability to withstand the demands of service and aptitude for specific career areas.
You’re assessed on moral and physical standards as set by the Space Force, federal law and the Department of Defense. Then you’re paired with a counselor to provide placement options (most of which work with our ground stations) based on your strengths, needs and qualifications.
You’ll be placed in the Delayed Entry Program (DEP), where you’ll await selection and departure for Basic Military Training (BMT).

ENLISTMENT STANDARDS FOR HEIGHT AND WEIGHT

The Space Force utilizes a Body Mass Index (BMI) range of 19 to 27.5 to determine height-to-weight ratio for body composition. The following chart represents the acceptable ratio. If you are above 27.5 BMI, consult your recruiter who will use a body fat measurement (BFM) to assess your eligibility.
